Jordan Wellington, Esq., Director of Compliance at Vicente Sederberg LLC, graduated cum laude from Brooklyn Law School in May of 2009. Jordan served as the sole legislative staffer assigned to shepherd the legislation implementing Amendment 64 and the legalization of cannabis through the Colorado General Assembly. He then was hired by Colorado’s Marijuana Enforcement Division to organize the Division’s entire stakeholder engagement process and draft many of the regulations governing retail and medical marijuana in Colorado. Since joining Vicente Sederberg, Jordan helped to build the firm’s Compliance Department. The Department’s team of dedicated staff advise clients across the country on complying with the complex web of technical operational requirements mandated by states and local governments. In managing the Department’s continuing evolution, Jordan is a Founder and serves as the Director of Compliance for Simplify, a new company that provides a compliance software solution to cannabis businesses, cannabis compliance companies, and government entities. In addition, Jordan continues to working on public policy in a variety of ways – representing local governments, chambers of commerce and industry groups outside Colorado. On behalf of the Council on Responsible Cannabis Regulation (CRCR), Jordan has met with elected officials and regulators from across the globe to discuss responsible regulation of cannabis; including California, Florida, Minnesota, New York, New Jersey, Germany, Jamaica, Costa Rica, Columbia, Alaska, and France. He also Co-Chaired CRCR’s National Packaging and Labeling Standards Committee and is a co-author of the organizations forthcoming whitepaper.
